Sydney has been sufficiently blessed this year by Virgil Abloh.
Off the back of his globally hyped sneaker collaboration with Nike, dubbed “The Ten”, Sydney’s Supply Store presented an exclusive pop-up dedicated to the collection. Whilst in Sydney to receive his GQ Man Of The Year award, Abloh attended the Darlinghurst pop-up, throwing an intimate reconstruction workshop, a media session and a meet & greet.
Abloh also managed a very rare headline DJ set during his short Sydney visit. Presented by creative group, SETTINGS˚, the Off-White frontman had high praise for the event, iconically cutting mid-track to state,
“Sydney, Australia – this is the most lit party I’ve ever been to in my whole fucking life, I swear.”
And now, after months of anticipation, Off-White has officially opened the doors to its Sydney storefront. The space had been boarded up since November with text reading “Under Construction”, a simple yet effective nail biting placeholder for what was to come.
A huge year for Abloh and his collaborations – honourable mentions go to: Off-White x IKEA and Virgil Abloh x Travis Scott Custom Air Force 1’s – we can only begin to guess what the fuck he has in store for us in 2018.
