I think when I heard the news break that Ameer Vann had been kicked out of BROCKHAMPTON, I felt more scared than upset. Like, what does this mean for the sound of the group?

I didn’t want to mourn the absence of Ameer for obvious, understandable reasons. Yet my heart kinda hurt, it was Zayn leaving One Direction all over again (dont @ me).

“Where is BROCKHAMPTON going?” is kind of the impending question now, but, like the exam question you leave till last because it’s too hard and who even knows what year World War II ended, we’re still awaiting an answer.

Although, if their next project is anything like their latest track (below), the earth will continue to spin on its axis and the sun will keep shining, as all is still good and pure because, honestly, their shit still bangs.

Treat your earholes to our latest Mixtape.

Track 1. |  Switch – 6LACK

This latest release from 6LACK gets us bopping and sobbing at the same time. The track itself is filled with emotion, surrounding all his feels about wanting to ditch the fame and his life after being unlucky in love. Who hurt you, 6LACK?

Track 2. | 1999 WILDFIRE – BROCKHAMPTON

Everyone’s favourite boyband is back again after a crazy ride of band evictions and album changes. Although the Saturation days are long gone, we can’t wait for BROCKHAMPTON’S latest sad boi era, which this track gives us a taste of.

Track 3. | Got Friends – GoldLink, Miguel

We’re not safe, the two smoothest men in hip-hop have teamed up. Between GoldLink’s gravel-like voice and Miguel’s honeyed laughter in between lyrics, it’s almost impossible not to love this song. Keep your girl on lock from this song.

Track 4. |  Dangerous – Meek Mill feat. Jeremih and PnB Rock

Flames. Meek switches his usual intensity for a more laid back tone in Dangerous – from his latest Legends of The Summer EP, . With features from Jeremih and PnB Rock, we get major 2000’s vibes from this track.

Track 5. | Who Want The Smoke – Lil Yachty feat. Cardi B & Offset

Offset and Cardi always bring the heat with their bars, talk about power couple. With Yachty captaining this track, it has a unique beat that lowkey reminds us of funeral organs. And we’re into it. Most because Offset literally kills his verse. Just saying.

Track 6. | 31 Days – Future

Future is the Future. Just in time to swoop us away from Scorpion for a bit, Future released BEASTMODE 2. Despite our distractions over the fact that the lions on the album cover kind of look like buffalo wings, the tracks within are dope; 31 Days is our top pick. Now brb, chicken time.

Track 7. | In My Feelings – Drake

I don’t care who you are, you cant tell me you don’t want to scream “KIKI” (or KeKe, you decide) as soon as the drums come in on this track. In My Feelings might have become a bit of a meme, but at the end of the day it still goes fucking hard and we can all relate to Zazie Beetz’ skit outro.

Track 8. | Ride With Me (Prod. KillaGraham) – Thutmose

Nigerian-American rapper, Thutmose, is seriously the breakout artist of the year. Sitting pretty with 10K followers on SoundCloud, his voice and style are refreshing af amidst all the recycled beat samples, and albums that at times sound like the same track on loop 10 times over. Check it for yourself.
