It’s wholly arguable that we reached peak smashed avo back in 2016, with Instagram feeds favouring the presence of the delicious green fruit, toppled on perfectly poached eggs and embellished with paprika and every other breakfast fitting imaginable. The trend hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down and we’re about to officially enter a new era of Avo worship.
Now, the great people at GoodFat, are opening up an entirely Avocado based pop-up cafe in Sydney this week – with the idea deriving from ‘Australia’s avocado growers to encourage Australians to eat even more of the fruit than they already do’ – like the general public of Sydney needed any more encouragement to indulge.
The pop-up has already proved a total hit in hipster Mecca areas, Brooklyn and Amsterdam, so it will surely go off in Sydney. Don’t go expecting your basic smashed avo deal, the chefs want to explore the boundaries of the God-tier food, with an ‘avocado cornetto’ and ‘avocado icecream’ featuring on the menu.
Amidst this and the looming announcement of the SSM Survey results, baby boomers won’t know what to do with themselves. Will we ever get sick of avocados? Will they ever not look good in a flat lay brunch shot? Probably not.
