YEEZY SZN 5: Absolutely No Social Media?

ASAP Ferg, Anna, Kylie were there. But Kanye himself? Actually a no-show … not even one bow.

Known to keep us waiting, the man himself rescheduled his YEEZY Season 5 show two hours early, as to not clash with any other designers. Fiending for those headlines, he went all anti-media, with ‘No phones, photos or social media’ allowed at his NYFW fashion show this morning.

Maybe it’s all reverse psychology – Ye’ telling us not to do something is his mastermind plan to generate all the more hype. It also begs the question; can social media privileges and our always ‘on’ millennial mentality ever be reversed?
While we didn’t get a slice of Kanye or his music premieres, we did get a new runner shape — one with a bulkier design and thicker sole than Boost 350 sneaker. It was 13 minutes of camo, shearling fur coats, knee high leather boots, burgundy, more burgundy, sneakers and a few tracksuits for good measure.

The athletic aesthetic is a welcome change from stocking onesies of collections past.
