Wikihow. It taught us our biggest life lessons, from how to get rid of your teen acne, how to put on a condom to teaching us how to DJ for reals.
And finally the day has come for Wikihow to release the next generation guide to being cool, ‘How to Dress Skate’. High fashion has lately taken a liking to appropriating and commercialising the once untouched skate culture, so why not have a wikihow guide to it?
Lo and behold, your now definitive guide to blending in with all those rich ‘skate kids’ who can’t actually skate— featuring only the best two dimensional stock images.
High farshion has shown us exactly this, you don’t actually have to skate to be a skater- from the infamous Vogue Fashion Week skate stunt to just about every city chick wearing a slip dress paired with DCs.
‘Step two: Become a Skater’. So that’s actually it Wiki?
The Punk Skater
Wikihow gives us an insight into the complex world of your regrettable year eight stage. Remember that short layered black hair and myspace page?
All you have to do is dress in aggressive themed tees, wear punk-ass jewellery (bonus points for those hardcore studded belts) and dying your hair ~edgy~ colours.
The Hip Hop Skater
With the words ‘chill’ and ‘cool’ being thrown around more then a early 2000s RnB music video, Wikihow gives us the run down to the most prominent skate stereotype (which actually only exists in b-grade American movies right?). Wear your baggy pants super low all for practicality reasons, and make sure to team it with a snapback- under a hoodie of course.
Bonus points if you use the ‘rock on’ symbol? So hip hop. So skate.
The Rasta Skater
Yeah, I don’t even know about this one. Just don’t shower for a week and look like you’re stoned- you definitely can’t have people thinking you care.
