Vince Staples’ Twitter is a constant stream of entertainment, with the critically acclaimed rapper often sharing his sage words of advice and wisdom. The Grammy Award nominations were released this morning, and whilst we’re beyond stoked on the nods received by Kendrick, SZA and Tyler, we can’t help but wonder what got Vince a very royal snubbing.
His fans were quick to jump to his support, storming his Twitter with impassioned opinions as to why the Grammy’s were wrong to ignore the genius that is Big Fish Theory. Like always, Staples was quick to communicate with his fans that he didn’t want them to ruin any future money-making opportunities by associating him with backlash.
He’s since deleted the tweets, but we managed to keep some receipts….
He’s also since tweeted that his snubbing could have to do with poor album sales. Sales do play a significant part in nomination criteria however, it shouldn’t have entire influence over who receives acclaim. Vince has in the past, voiced his thoughts on the Grammy’s saying “A Grammy means something specific; it means you’re at the pinnacle of creating music”.
Mark Anthony Green from GQ just called to apologized for me not getting nominated & I just realized you people really care about this. I apologize if I hurt anyones feelings with my disregard for the trophy. Im in Glasgow & The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is on television. Goodnight.
