One of the saddest things about Blink 182’s journey into a more mature, and darker style of music, was the realisation that they, and indeed I, were no longer young reckless teenagers anymore.
The fun antics of the three punk rockers in their Dude Ranch/Enema of the State days, who would often spend more time telling dick jokes than they did playing music, sadly past by with time, as did the number of children and family homes the three amassed. It took a while to accept the new, darker styles of Blink, but as their music evolved, so did mine and my ability to relate to the odes to teenage struggles.
Fresh from a rebrand and the replacement of departed bass player Tom Delonge, Blink 182 have just begun touring after their new album California hit #1 across the states. With this came the perfect time for Delonge to release a documentary covering the history of Blink 182 and his current projects and band Angels & Airwaves. As there have been few Blink documentaries in the past, it will be interesting to see where 40-year old Delonge has evolved to.
