Goodbar, a venue that was never expected to see the light of Sydney again has been given a new life and we’re kinda into it.
Goodbar is ingrained in Sydney’s history books before closing it’s doors in 2006, originally being a notorious underage drinking spot. It was known for housing the kind of people you wouldn’t want to hang out with and that iconic light up dance floor that smelt of too many cheap vodka raspberries. Long story short, no one over the age of 19 wanted to be there and it had it’s inevitable fall.
That was until Division Agency has dusted off those bad teenage memories and reshaped its past and from what we have seen it’s definitely worked.
Known for putting on some of the best techno events across Sydney as of late, the agency has reinvented the venue into something very different. The two level venue is located just outside the lock out zone precedent, letting all of us adults have a night out that doesn’t result in Baird tucking us into bed at 1:30am.
The venue having two very distinct characters, one being a very shmick cocktail bar upstairs, the other tucked away underground. Walking down the dark stairs will bring you to Sydney’s new secret home of house and techno music.
A whole new generation of Sydneysiders will be hosting basement parties with the masterminds of Paul Strange and Scott Robertson behind the venue. There will also be a regular Friday evening called the ‘People’s Club’ which will be hosted by David Banga and Nergal Youkhana.
Photos thanks to Goodbar.
