Ah Sydney, you make it hard for us to love you sometimes. Yeah, you’re beautiful, but seriously, when did you get so boring?

Since the enforcing of Lock Out Laws  Sydney’s nightlife has faced what some have described as an epic demise. With venue closures, empty streets and a lack of events making their way to Sydney, they’re not far off. This week, 20 Sydney venues were granted lockout exemptions, and although it’s a positive step forward, we’re still not too pleased with the regulations surrounding nightlife in Sydney.

It’s not just Lock Out Laws causing us strife, certain residents have just totally forgotten what it means to have fun – pretty much summed up by this iconic Simpsons moment

Can we not let Melbourne’s ego to inflate anymore than it already has? They have cafe’s selling spoonfuls of Nutella for $5, let’s not let them think they’ve got a leg up on us…

The legends behind Keep Sydney Open have organised Meet Me In The Cross , and event tailor made to get you club hopping around the Cross like it’s 2011. Check out the incredible lineup here:

So, to get you in the mood to have the time of your life and totally stick it to old mate, Casino Mike and new mate, Gladys Berejiklian, here are some of Sydney’s most embarrassing night life f*ck ups.

When Transport for NSW released this video about Sydney Nightlife

The video broadcasts all of your favourite school holiday activities from when you were 8 and people were quick to pick up on its total bullsh*t.

When a Vivid gig was shut down at 9:30

Vivid, Sydney’s annual celebration of culture shut a gig down before most school kids get to sleep at night. Ridiculous.

When the Opera House got fined $15,000 following noise complaints

The Opera House, one of Sydney’s most iconic live music venues was faced with complaints from ‘toaster’ residents due to noise levels during a Florence & The Machine concert.

When a gig got shut down because the band playing had too many members

Now we can’t blame this one on lockouts but it’s still pretty damn shocking. At the same time, we’re not even surprised though.

So this Saturday, club hop to your heart’s content and enjoy Sydney for what it should be – an exciting, welcoming and buzzing cultural hub.
