If you’ve been a long time player of the Pokémon series, you’ll be keen for the eighth generation of pocket monsters to catch.
The latest trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield games has revealed some of the new features to look forward to. The biggest one is the new Gigantamax feature, which is supposed to turn some Pokémon into giant versions of themselves.
Gigantamax not only allows your Pokémon to become really huge, you’ll also be able to use special G-Max moves. This is not to be confused with the previously unveiled Dynamax feature, which also enlarges your Pokémon, but doesn’t have the special move part. Totally not confusing.
Trainers, our Dynamax research has uncovered a special type of Dynamaxing. Get ready for Gigantamaxing!
Only certain Pokémon can Gigantamax, however—the majority will keep their usual appearance when they Dynamax.https://t.co/rou1oLLwGV#PokemonSwordShield pic.twitter.com/niqpzxzwFX

The trailer also previews some of the new Pokémon that’ll be featured in the games. The new additions to the ever-expanding Pokédex include Alcremie, the cream Pokemon that can produce whipped cream, and Rolycoly, a Pokémon made out of coal; and Duraludon, a steel dragon with metal abilities. Our favourite paws down, is Yamper the puppy Pokémon, with the very appropriate ‘ball fetch’ ability.
Yamper sometimes is drawn to things that are moving quickly, often chasing after people, Pokémon, or even vehicles! Yamper generates electricity while running around and is often seen running with electric sparks crackling around it! #PokemonSwordShield pic.twitter.com/7zF0QRCVn1

The new games reveal a notable change to the decade-spanning video game franchise: some of the new gym leaders won’t appear in both versions. You’re gonna have to choose between fighting Bea, a fighting-type aficionado in Sword; or Allister, a ghost-type expert in Shield.
The game will be set in a new region in the Pokémon world: Galar. When you start your game, you’ll be able to choose among the new starters: Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will be released to the Nintendo Switch on November 15.
