It seems that Netflix is officially travelling full steam ahead with anime programming for the next coming years; after news of a live-action incarnation of Cowboy Beebop in production, as well as an animated trailer for Ultraman being released, Netflix announced that Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 is officially on the cards too.
The upcoming series will be as futuristic as you can get, coming in 3DCG and featuring the work of some familiar names like Appleseed‘s Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex at its head, along with major production company I.G.

Whilst there’s no date set in stone just yet, we do know that the show is scheduled for programming in 2020. So, until then, we can only wait and thank god that we won’t have another Scarlett Johansson case on our hands.
We can also look forward to the Roald Dahl Cinematic Universe coming to Netflix the same year. ‘Flix for president 2020?
