Update: Matty Mo’s Instagram and domain name has been “acquired by an unknown private collector”. This is all that remains on his account. 

Matty Mo AKA The Most Famous Artist is a man known for his rumination on art and technology. Pieces like 100 Hundred Thousand Dollars and Kanye Loves Kanye offer insights as to how the internet shapes how we perceive the external world.

His most recent work, The Pink House, saw him douse houses in pink paint along the Miracle Mile in LA.

Now, he’s selling his Instagram account for half-a-mill (or 50 BTC, if you’ve invested in that kind of thing). The post also advertises control of his domain name, themostfamousartist.com

Is this a hoax ?

Considering the themes of Matty Mo’s work (his willingness to appropriate, assume and distort contemporary culture), it’s a definite possibility. But that probably won’t stop rich dudes hoping to swap cash for social currency from sliding into his DMs.

His Instagram is also disappearing as we type . . .
