Pony kicks in recent years, haven’t elicited the most excitable response from avid sneakerheads and champions of streetwear. With brands like Nike and adidas constantly reinventing the wheel, collaborating with labels like KITH and re-shaping classic silhouettes, the sneaker game if rife with dynamic competition.
The All American Badass has teamed up with the old school brand, modelling the relaunch of the brand’s Topstar sneaker – 45 years after its release.
In an interview with Complex, Joey divulged the details surrounding how the collab came about,
“It’s synergy. Take a brand that stands for “Product of New York,” and take an O.G. New York rapper like Joey Badass and you have a match made in heaven. I don’t want it to sound cheesy, but the shit just goes hand in hand”
The man clearly understands how the whole notion of being cool-by-association works,
“if we wear this shit, half of the world’s gonna wear it. We’re the entrepreneurs of style” Too right, Joey.
