After teasing the official poster yesterday, Warner Bros. have released the trailer for Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character.

This film will be a standalone origin story, focusing on the characters descent from Arthur Fleck, failed stand-up comedian, to full blown super villain. The cast includes Robert De Niro and Atlanta alumni Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry.

The trailer has serious vibe throughout, focusing on the darker side of the protagonist’s origin story in a way we haven’t seen before.

Joker is in Australian theatres on October 3rd, 2019.
