We are one week away from the very last episode of Game of Thrones, currently one of the most successful and highest grossing shows right now… except some fans aren’t that keen for what’s in store.
Fans who are a part of r/freefolk on Reddit have been so unsatisfied with the writing of the final season, that they made a photo of the show’s creators appear as one of the top searches when you Google ‘bad writers’.
from what i’ve seen so far i could’ve wrote this season of GOT and it would’ve been about the same

Whenever a Reddit post gets enough thumbs up, it shows up as one of the first results on Google, also known as a ‘Google bombing.’ The thread, titled “Bad Writers. Upvote this post so its the first result when you google “Bad writers.” currently has over 42 thousand upvotes. Definitely not an unpopular opinion then.

The showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss actually claimed they would go into hiding in an interview with EW before the season premiered:
“When the final episode airs, do you have any specific plans for what you’ll be doing?”
Weiss: We’ll be in an undisclosed location, turning off our phones and opening various bottles.
“Won’t you be a little bit curious? I know you’re not big on social media , but won’t you be tempted to look at Twitter?”
Weiss: At some point, if and when it’s safe for us to come out again, somebody will give us a breakdown of what was out there without us having to actually experience it.
Benioff: I plan to be very drunk and very far from the internet.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the fourth and fifth episodes have been ranked as the worst two out of the entire eight-season series, coming in at 57 and 49 percent respectively. Weiss and Benioff also revealed that HBO offered for them to create more than six episodes for the final season, but they declined.
“HBO would have been happy for the show to keep going, to have more episodes in the final season. We always believed it was about 73 hours, and it will be roughly that. As much as they wanted more, they understood that this is where the story ends.”
That’s probably why the story has felt rushed, and certain beloved characters have been acting, well, out of character (not to point any golden fingers at anyone who needs a hand sorting out their priorities).
For like the 87th time, it’s not where the plot went, it’s HOW THEY GOT THERE. Dany can go crazy! Arya can give up revenge! But my god let these plotlines BREATHE.
I mean but also tossing Jaime’s entire redemption arc out the window was not great. OK, OK, I’m done now!

The grand finale of Game of Thrones will air for Australians on May 20, and we’ll finally get to see who ends up on the Iron Throne. Or maybe the show ends with all of us drinking to forget how bad the writing has become.
