Inspirational, intellectual and insanely talented hip hop artist / poet Akala is coming to Australia this December, and will be taking time out from his 10 Years of Akala tour to join a panel discussion at the Seymour Centre.
Accompanied by local hip-hop artists and a handful of people with ‘Phd’ after their names, they’ll be discussing the evolution of socially conscious hip hop in our society, and its inspiration for a new generation of artists and activists.
Akala is one of those unique visionaries who is able to break down what is going down in our society in both discussion and his music, whilst providing alternatives to making our world a better place. Interestingly, he is the younger brother of rapper Ms. Dynamite, and has collected a mass of awards including the MOBO and BAFTA best UK hip hop artist.
The event is hosted by Frank and Renee from the Indij Hip Hop Show on Koori Radio, and will include special performances by Akala and others.
Tickets are $30 +bf, or free for USyd Students / staff, purchase them here for the 9th December.
