We love it when our favourite musicians attempt to flex their skills within the wild and wonderful world of film. It has in the past, reaped some seriously successful rewards (i.e. Jamie Foxx, Beyonce) as well as its far share of flops and cringeworthy performances (i.e Ludacris, Ice Cube).

According to Variety, Wiz Khalifa and French Montana have begun production on a Netflix exclusive ‘coming of age hip-hop film’ called The After Party. The last few years have suffered from a severe lack of feelsy yet fun party and bullshit style movies so if any powerhouse were to bring it back in a big way, it’d have to be Netflix.

The film will apparently revolve around ‘two buddies looking to land a record deal before one heads to college and the other to the military. The story takes place during “one wild night,” but will shoot for six weeks in New York, including on location at The Meadows Music and Arts Festival at Citi Field in Queens, and a live concert at the Gramercy Theater’. Sounds adorable, right? Hopefully it’s got the charm of Superbad (wishful thinking, maybe?) mixed with the laughs of Friday?

Wiz has already tried his hand in the acting world, with three films under his belt however French has yet to get into character (unless you count his stint on Keeping Up With The Kardashians acting…). It’ll also feature the ISpy banger maker, Lil Yachty collab buddy Kyle.
