The Australian festival circuit clearly isn’t lacking in terms of diversity and frequency as of late (check out the absolutely ripper Laneway & FOMO lineups), however, we’d definitely never say no to travelling interstate for another day of good tunes and vibes, even though our wallets are telling us we probably should.

According to News Corp, councillors have voted 7-1 in favour of ‘Hangout’ festival going ahead to take place right on Coolangatta Beach in your favourite childhood holiday location, the Gold Coast.

Hangout has previously featured the likes of a few ~tiny~, underground acts like Frank Ocean, Chance The Rapper and Major Lazer in the past – with Laneway, FOMO, Falls and Field Day already pulling huge acts yearly, who could possibly be left to headline?

Check out some of the antics below:

“We’d be bringing 40 or 50 bands into the country plus locals, plus 500 or 600 staff. An event like this touches everyone in the business community. Economically it’s brilliant.” said organiser, Paul Dainty.

With it said to hit our shores (literally) in 2018, will this see a total over-saturation of the festival market? Or is it just another essential date to lock into your calendar to get off work.
